Special Events with Swami Umapuri Ji in Brisbane

The final destination of Swami Umapuriji 2023 tour “down-under” was Queensland, visiting the Ashrams in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast.

Upon arrival from Melbourne on Tuesday 14th March she immediately became an integral part of the Brisbane Sri Devpuriji Ashram by teaching some of the regular classes and doing karma yoga wherever and whenever it was needed, showing a great example of a selfless, tireless karma yogi.

The official program of a Special week with Swami Umapuriji started on Friday 17th March, with a weekend seminar including a variety of workshops (Hatha Yoga Kriyas, Yoga Nidra, Cooking and Back & Neck Workshop) and evening satsangs and a four-day weekday evening yoga class and satsang series.

Swami Umapuriji attracted lots of people who were deeply touched and inspired by her caring nature, love, radiant energy and immense wisdom. She welcomed everyone with an open heart and remembered the name of everyone who came to classes and gave her attention to all participating in the events. Students and bhaktas all enjoyed the gentle but very effective asanas for a healthy back and neck.

Furthermore, she shared with full honesty her personal experiences on the spiritual journey. She inspired many of the bhaktas and students to be actively involved in satsangs with singing bhajans or reading from the Lila Amrit, which created a warm atmosphere where everyone felt welcome and belonging to our community.

Between events Swami Umapuri took the group for beautiful walks along the Brisbane river, giving them more opportunity for personal talks, guidance and a joyful time together.

Many of our students participated in almost all events, enjoying a full-week yoga seminar.

They greatly appreciated this opportunity being available in the city, where they could join the events alongside their worldly duties.

During the weekdays there was an opportunity to visit some of the landmarks of Brisbane such as the Story Bridge over the Brisbane river and Mount Coot-Tha lookout and many enjoyed some lovely walks by the ocean.

Swami Umapuriji has a deep love and respect for the vast ocean of Australia, the symbol of the divine consciousness, the final destination of all drops, that eventually unite and merge into the ocean.

After the special week Swami Umapuriji had programs in Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast for a week, before she returned to Brisbane for another weekend seminar organised for bhaktas and teachers from all over Australia. It was a unique opportunity to come together and deepen our knowledge of teaching yoga, learning about cooking for Vishwaguruji and to be uplifted by being in the boat of satsanga together.

With a heavy heart the time came to say farewell, appreciating the time that we could spend together and knowing that we are all connected and united in the love of our Gurudeva.

We are all immensely grateful from the depth of our heart for Swami Umapuriji’s visit, she was a true channel of our Vishwaguruji with the love and care of a mother.

A special thank you also to Jalebi, who travelled with Swami Umapuriji and who was tirelessly in seva to all Ashrams throughout the whole tour.

With open heart and arms, we are looking forward to welcoming Swami Umapuriji back in the future!
